Sound Journal

Doing the sound provided me with a new experience and skill, this would be key in the coming future. I learnt that if the sound isn’t good it could ruin the rest of the video, sound is the most important thing in a video without sound there won’t be nothing to scare the audience except for the visuals which won’t have much effect without the sound. Different sounds create different moods, so for horror I needed to be careful with the sound I used and the speed of which it played in to create a dark gruesome atmosphere.

Finding the right sort of sound was difficult as it was easy to go over the top with the sound and make the video sound unrealistic. As the editor I choose to use a theme (from YouTube) which I changed throughout the video as I wanted it to be the main theme of the video and a sound which symbolizes the little girl. The other sound effects used where chosen as a group to create a realistic atmosphere such as the footsteps. We used different programme’s and websites to find a good sounds such as Sound cut pro, YouTube, Sound cloud and clip art from word. We mainly used YouTube and sound cut pro as we found realistic sounds which suited our video. 

We found that a few previous sounds we used didn’t work so we had to come to a decision and get rid of some sounds such as the girl crying which didn’t suit the scenario and visuals of the film. We also added extra sounds such as the breathing and heartbeat making the film more tense and a film which could make the audience jump out there seats. In my opinion I’m happy with the sounds and being the editor it made it easier for me to change the sound slightly into my liking.
